Resume: Shane Iseminger
Principal software engineer with 25+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, software architecture, system design, performance, and security.
BACKGROUND AT A GLANCE
I spent more than a decade as the sole senior/staff software engineer at an enterprise SaaS platform, where I engaged in software development across multiple platforms, authored nearly all backend code, scaled infrastructure from single VM to Kubernetes, and rebuilt a legacy codebase from the ground up using domain-driven design (DDD) principles. I worked closely with the CEO and founders in software architecture, system design and infrastructure design roles, provided technical leadership to a small team of developers, and directly supported enterprise clients that included Nasdaq, AAA, Accenture, Pepsi, and PayPal.
Prior work includes software engineering for social media startups and many years of freelance development projects for clients ranging from Infoseek to British Telecom to iCourthouse, serving as a design and development jack-of-all-trades in many of those.

EXPERIENCE
-
MAR 2013 - JUNE 2026Principal Software Engineer & CTOSocialHP
-
End-to-end ownership of software development, software architecture, technical leadership, systems design, cloud infrastructure and security at an SaaS platform used by organizations for publishing social media posts as well as tracking and analyzing their performance.
- Maintained and extended a legacy codebase in parallel with a full platform rebuild, keeping production stable throughout the transition.
- Designed, implemented, and led a ground-up platform rebuild in API Platform and Symfony using domain-driven design, replacing a legacy system without service interruption and delivering a 50%-80% drop in latency.
- Thirteen years as the author and owner of nearly all backend code, much of the evolved legacy code, and substantial parts of the responsive frontend in both legacy and modernized platforms.
- Designed and executed a live database migration from MySQL to PostgreSQL, then extended the data layer with ElasticSearch via a CDC-driven pipeline.
- Developed in-depth visual and written technical documentation of our implementation of DDD, CQRS and other architectures, and mentored junior developers on adopting those architectures.
- Scaled infrastructure from a single VM to a Kubernetes deployment on Google Cloud, owning architecture decisions at every stage of growth. Incrementally reduced cloud spend, sometimes 25% at a time, allowing budget to be devoted to new features without budget increases. Kubernetes implementation allowed us to deliver 99.99% uptime SLAs.
- Wrote and maintained internal libraries for asset resizing, multi-source content ingestion, and social media API integrations with a unified, standardized interface.
- Led and implemented SOC2 compliance efforts.
- Dev team lead, including hiring, code review, and technical leadership and direction.
-
MAR 2013 - APR 2024Senior Software EngineerCityBlast
-
As senior software engineer, focused on software development, software architecture, systems design and cloud infrastructure at an SaaS platform used by real estate agents to publish their listings on social media and track engagement. Sister company to SocialHP.
- Maintained and extended legacy codebase.
- Personally wrote and owned ~75% of updated backend code.
- Performed code refactoring of the original single-process, overloaded cron-based publishing script as a standalone publishing engine, with internal task queuing, scheduling and multiprocess task execution, allowing it to handle more job types and 400% more throughput while eliminating publishing delays despite doubling the user base.
- Evolved infrastructure from a single VM to scalable cloud VMs and then to Kubernetes in Google Cloud, later migrating to AWS.
- Wrote, optimized and continually updated in-house social media API integration libraries.
-
