Wordpress, tailored to fit.

New to Wordpress? Already have a site in it, but not happy with it? Or just not sure where to start with it? Not only have I been working with Wordpress for years, I understand how it fits into your site's bigger picture.

Wordpress is a very capable platform for many different types of sites — not just blogs. In the wrong hands, Wordpress can become a poorly-performing mess that does little more than confuse your audience. But in the right hands, it becomes a powerful tool for building and managing a web site, and can give you more control over your site's content.

But its flexibility and ease of use doesn't preclude your designer or developer from knowing website visuals and technologies inside and out. I've been working with PHP and MySQL, the foundation technologies of Wordpress, for 10 years — longer than most developers have been in the business. I know the difference between good, elegant code and bad, insecure and unmaintainable code. And let's not forget about the importance of good, effective design in any website, let alone the kind of information-rich, interaction-rich site possible with Wordpress.

I also understand the full web “stack” — from the user-facing web site through the database and web server software to the server OS itself.

Sure, I can set up and install Wordpress in minutes flat. But I can also design and integrate a completely custom theme, develop a custom Wordpress plugin to fit almost any need, tune Wordpress for optimal performance, and secure it from the virus-based attacks that have become more common in the past couple years. And when you're ready to expand your site — by accepting ads, publishing more complex content, selling merchandise or subscriptions, or redesigning your site — I can help you there too.
